This is a process that replaces the battery in the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (RDC) assembly in either the front or rear wheel. BMW Motorrad DO NOT service this item, offering a direct unit replacement when the battery inevitably fails, as the battery is buried within the unit and sealed in with resin.
This replacement, if done through a Motorrad dealer will cost around £140 for the sensor alone plus the labour to change it which will include tyre removal, refitting and balancing.
This seems unnecessarily expensive when copy sensors can be purchased from Amazon for a fraction of the price. being as cynical as we are here at Cymarc Bike Parts I used these sensors to replace mine on my GSA and they worked perfectly.
This is a ride in/ride out service & consists of the following steps;
- Removal of wheel from bike.
- Removal of tyre.
- Removal of failed TPMS RDC sensor.
- Replacement with new sensor.
- Activating the sensor using professional diagnostic gear.
- Registering the sensor to the bike.
- Refitting the tyre.
- Testing by riding the bike.
Please note it does take a while for the replacement sensor to start registering on your dash, it took my GSA about 10 miles but once the dash had registered the new sensor it works fine!
Please allow around 2 hours for the work to be done.
Please note price is per wheel.
