We agree with the opinion that the S1000XR Gen 2 (like the earlier Gen 1 before it) side stand is unnecessarily short, giving the bike a concerning lean angle (particularly under certain conditions) when the side stand is used. If the bike is put on the side stand on a camber it REALLY leans over excessively and can be very tricky to get the back upright again, especially when loaded with luggage!

Our solution to this problem was to evolve the existing Gen1 side stand extension product that we make, and create a new version specifically for the Gen 2 model. It differs from the earlier Gen 1 version in that it is smaller and is bespoke to the Gen 2 side stand foot print, and uses 2x 5mm brushed Aluminium segments to `right` the bike's lean angle to a much more `user` friendly degree. It's all held together with stainless fasteners and a brushed stainless steel `top plate` which clamps everything onto the stand itself.

It is very easy to fit, no drilling or cutting involved. Comparatively very expensive to manufacture hence the price but it is very good quality and precisely made - each Aluminium segment is precisely made to ensure it all lines up exactly and there`s no movement in the extension when the bike is put on its side stand.

The product does slightly touch the main stand when retracted - I personally put a thick black tie wrap around the main stand tube for it to butt up against or use some helicopter tape to protect the frame. Please remember this when purchasing!
