This is the third product we have produced for the Africa Twin, it allows the screen to be raised by up to 40mm and incorporates a device mounting position. There are already some excellent extension brackets on the market including Puig & Batzen (to name but 2) but they were not ideal for device mounting, being too `shaky` in use due to the way they were fixed in place.
What we did was to design an aluminium top bracket, still strong yet considerably lighter than a solid steel bracket and then further anchor it to the cross bar - thereby reducing any shake to much more acceptable levels. I personally tested the design up to 70MPH with both my mobile phone (which I use as a satnav) and a camera. In both cases the level of shake was significantly reduced.
Specifically, the top bracket locates on the two screen locating points (as normal) however what we did was to further secure the bracket by hooking it around the bottom of the cross bar. Then by fitting the device mounting ball this further `sandwiches` the cross bar and holds the top bracket firm. Your device can then be attached using the RAM mounting system (not supplied) or any clamp that uses the standard 25mm ball (supplied).
The screen is adjusted by loosening the hand fasteners and moving the screen up or down to the desired position and then re tightened.
