PART 1 - 25% OFF - Utility Box
*Just been confirmed to fit with 'Givi' Top Box Rack - See Pictures*
This is something I have been mulling over for literally years (since the latest LC model was launched in fact). I`ve always considered the placement of a box on the pillion seat plate as a good idea as most of us simply do not carry passengers (most of the time) and the space is therefore wasted. However, a box that could clip on and off easily would still provide the option of putting the seat back on quickly if needed.
Getting it to interface well with the BMW pillion seat holding mechanism has always been a difficulty with previous attempts not being as good as I would like. Simply bolting the box in place might have sufficed but this does not allow for the easy clip on/off facility!
So, I decided to get stuck in over Xmas (you can only eat so much turkey) and at last and after many prototypes I have finally come up with a solution that is, possibly, one of the best there is currently available. What I did was take one of the best on the market (An American design - which btw I thought was really good!) and then get involved with the lads on the UKGSER forum - I`m also a member of this damn fine forum. What they (kindly) did was make a great deal of suggestions on how to improve the original design which allowed me to evolve the product.
In this case getting significant numbers of bikers (like me) involved directly with R&D of a new product has produced positive results allowing me to produce a product as good as it could be as quickly as possible.
It has been designed to make maximum use of the space available but without being `too big`. Panniers and top box can still be fitted if need be.
The result is a utility box that has balanced price with high quality that offers the following features;
- Interfaces with the BMW OEM locking mechanism for same key fitting and removal (clip on/off).
- High quality lock for security.
- 2mm aluminium construction - light but very strong (most other boxes/panniers are made from thinner material).
- High quality machined locating spigot.
- Powder coated.
- Tig welded corners, CNC pressbrake formed sides.
- Made in the UK by craftsmen.
It can be utilised for a number of uses (hence the utility description) and the image shows just one idea of how it can be used. One use would be to mount a bike intercom system in it, for example. Or just as an option to using panniers if you are going for a short ride out somewhere.
All the parts, hinges etc, are individually bolted on to allow for replacement if necessary using stainless steel fasteners.
To see how easy and quickly it clips on and off please search YouTube for `Fitting Cymarc Utility Box to R1200GSA LC Using BMW OEM lock` to watch the video.
It will also fit the GS LC model too.
PART 2 - 25% OFF - Toolbox
|This is the Black version of the standard toolbox revised to fit the new GSA LC - it is powder coated in satin black over stainless (rather than over mild steel which lots of people do to save money). Its very well made using a good thick stainless steel wall, professionally Tig welded and hand finished. Its certainly the strongest box currently on the market in my opinion. It is not mass produced, with each one being made to order.
This is a long awaited item based on one I purchased from abroad a few years ago for my 2010 GSA. As usual I have taken a very good product and tried to make it much better. It fits to the inside of the standard pannier rail on the R1200GSA.
My toolbox incorporates the following features which represent an improvement over the one I purchased:
I had tried to make it fully waterproof but no matter what I tried it was impossible to achieve, to get round this I have fitted 2 drain holes to allow water which may get in to drain out. I personally always stick my gear in plastic bags when I use the toolbox anyway and I would suggest this to all users.
It comes with full instructions and fittings.
PART 3 - 20% OFF - Number Plate Carry Box
This was a product which I had been mulling over for literally years. What was currently on the market was either made from plastic or simply too big. Using an alternative design method we believe we`ve come up with something exclusive compared to other number plate boxes currently on the market.
So, I set about designing something not too big as to overstress the carrying bracket itself (The bracket is only designed to carry a number plate!) yet big enough to be useful.
What I came up with was the best compromise in size and usefulness. The next problem was material, I had decided on 1.5mm aluminium for lightness however the problem then was during TIG welding we noticed that, as expected, the box was warping with the heat. This problem was made worse by the unavoidable gaps being left after CNC pressbrake folding, requiring filling with weld. It was also very labour intensive to manufacture.
At this point both Aaron and Mick got heavily involved with the development and with all our heads together we came up with the idea of using laser profiled bending `slits` to not only give us precise bends but also to provide a sealing edge where the two edges of the slit came together. Strength was provided by bending tabs and the minimum of welding thereby avoiding heat distortion, whilst retaining strength.
Following a heavy powder coat in satin black we`ve produced an item that is not only strong, visually square and precise but also weatherproof. It`s also quicker to manufacture and ensures much higher quality control than other conventional methods.
It fits onto the number plate carrier using high quality stainless steel fasteners (supplied) and the number plate then simply fits onto the outer cover using the standard plastic fasteners. Please note it is for light loading only.
