This is a very substantial oil cooler cover to fit the V Strom 650cc and the DL 650cc models. I can also manufacture a cover which also fits the 1000cc versions of both models and is exactly the same apart from being a little thinner to suit the smaller 650cc oil cooler.
It is laser cut from 2mm thick stainless steel and very heavy duty indeed - similar to the KLV version I doubt anything would penetrate this to cause damage to the radiator behind it.
The images also show it fitted to the bike and there is also an image of the standard cover and the comparison in quality and substance is obvious. The standard one is made from mild steel, poorly protected with paint and rusts very quickly.
The oil cooler cover locates on the 2 upper rubber sheathed fixing points and the single lower fastener point. The lower fastener is a mild steel screw and is horrible, rusts and is an absolute pig to get out so care must be taken. A replacement stainless fastener, which is much easier to remove in the future if need be, is supplied. Fitting instructions for both covers are supplied.
It normally takes me a good hour to drill out badly rusted screws and retap for a replacement fastener at my factory. If you do have problems and can get to me I`ll do all this work for free because I know what a pig it can be.
It is a 100% improvement over the standard cover and very much `over engineered` as an alternative to trying to make the cover as cheaply as possible
