BMW R9T Throttle Sensor Guard

The throttle sensor on the left hand side of the pre liquid cooled twin cam engine is pretty well unguarded. The one on the right hand side is much better protected. The sensor is made of plastic and if it should impact on something hard whilst off road the chances are that it will snap or break. This damage will be a trip stopper until another throttle sensor is fitted.

I`ve designed a guard which offers a not unreasonable amount of protection without being huge. It also extends down and around the bottom of the cable which leads to the sensor as well as over the top of the sensor. It locates on the two existing mounting points and is stood off the sensor by placing a series of M4 stainless steel washers as packers under the guard until the correct spacing is achieved.

It is laser profiled from stainless steel and hand formed refinished before being hand formed, then Tig welded along the seams to give it rigidity.

One of the images shows the unprotected sensor. They are available in a powder coated finish, or a naked stainless finish, brushed as well as can be (though they will never be a perfect finish of course).
