Shortly after purchasing my R1200GSA I removed the rear seat as it is very rare that I ever carry a pillion. This exposes the BMW rear seat plate which is made out of plastic. This item can suffer from scratches and dents when used with a purpose. It also sits lower than the rear rack itself.
I have designed a plate which is very substantial and will protect the rear seat area. The plate also brings up the loading height to within a few mm`s of the rack itself thereby offering a flat surface for loading from the seat to the back of the rack.
The protective plate shows the BMW Park Lane logo however any further ones which I would make would come with the R1200GSA logo instead.
It is made from 2mm thick stainless steel and uses rubber lined `P` clamps to fit to the rack. There is no drilling and doesn`t take very long to fit.
Apart from the rubber linings on the `P` clamps everything is made from quality stainless steel and hand finished by me so it looks and feels a quality item Made in Britain.
There are alternatives on the market but they do not seem as well made as this and are also way over £120!
