R1200GSA Adjustable Rack
This was a project for a client who needed something adjustable that could fit onto his R1200GSA. All I had to do was to modify 2 current parts, being the R1200GS adjustable rack and the R1200GSA rear rack adaptor plate.
This is what I came up with. The adaptor plate is made from 2mm thick stainless and bolts directly onto the OEM rack using 4 mounting holes – there is no need to drill anything – it locates using 4 x M6 Coach bolts (all fasteners are stainless steel).
Onto the adaptor plate fits the adjustable rack which is made from 1.2mm thick stainless steel. It bolts on using 4 x M8 Coach bolts and 4 x M8 Nyloc nuts. These fasteners can be used to hold it in the desired width. I`ll also supply 4 x M8 wing nuts and spring washers for ease of adjustment but I would only use those if they were constantly monitored as they can easily be removed...........
The rack, in its closed position, is 430mm wide and when fully open it reaches 630mm wide. This width is still safely within the span of the mirrors. The rack is 270mm deep. The main image shows it in the fully open position.
It can be used to support wide loads which need extra support or when closed simply as a good rack to put things on. It`s shown fitted to my very own R1200GSA and I use `Roc Straps` to hold stuff down on it.
